This was the hospital in Williamsburg, VA. It was the first hospital in the US for treating mental patients. The original rooms were worse than prison. It was eventually closed because the success rate of "curing" these people fell too low. Now its a museum. I thought the sky and the moving people were haunting touches.
i like the history behind this, and the picture just try not to photoshop, i just dont like that, i just think it takes away from the real picture..but great shot anyways. *props*
Colours are very alien...man I need to get an IR filter. Does the metering on the D70 still work when you're using an IR filter? I've heard people say exposure can be tricky when using IR filters but they're usually talking about film. Since film isn't as sensitive to IR as the sensors in digicams I would expect it wouldn't be such a pain to get a solid exposure but you never know.
Also, do you have a UV filter on to protect the lens and the IR on top of that. Looks like you're starting to vignette a bit. I find that at the shortest focal length with a UV filter when I'm using my polarizer I get about as much vignette, maybe a bit more, than what you're showing here. It's really unfortunate here because you can't crop without "ruining" the right edge of the image by loosing most of the tree and getting rid of the edge of the wall.
Very gorgeous shot, sorry the comment's a little on the long side.
IR filters are awesome. The metering never seems that accurate, so I usually shoot in manual and take a batch of shots. And I never stack filters. Only leave the UV on when I'm not using the IR or the C-Pol. I think the vignette is from shooting at 18mm, although I kind of like the effect in this shot.
thanks

yeah you're right about the vignette working here. And I just really paid close attention after posting the comment before. My UV starts to vignette ever so slightly at 18mm as well.
